Ian Watson

Ian Watson graduated (1984) in Photography from Bournemouth & Poole College of Art & Design (now The Arts University, Bournemouth). He then worked for several years in advertising and food photography in London before returning to live and work in his hometown of St Andrews.

The Dreich series is an exploration of landscape photography that uses an extreme weather form as a subject matter with the intention of restricting the amount of visual information available. Rather than producing images reliant on lighting, composition and scale, Ian has created a body of work influenced purely by a meditative pace and mood.

Ian’s photography has been exhibited nationally and has won awards at both The Meffan  Gallery and Fotospace. His work is held in private collections in the UK and US.
